With effect from October 1st 2009, the National Minimum Wage will be:
5.80GBP per hour for workers aged 22 and above

Changes to Statutory Payments

Statutory payments* tend to increase each April and you are advised to contact us for current rates and qualification rules.

Changes to Holiday Entitlement

As of 01 April 2009 the minimum holiday entitlement companies must offer is 28 days per annum including statutory holidays.

These figures are based on working full time hours across a 5 day week and advice should be sought in calculating entitlement for part time workers accurately.

Age Discrimination Legislation

It is illegal to discriminate on age at both ends of the spectrum. This has a knock on effect for recruitment, redundancy, grievance and disciplinary rights as well as birthday cards and comments joking about peoples' ages.

Statutory Maternity Provisions

Qualifying mothers who were expected to give birth on or after 1st April 2007 are entitled to up to 39 weeks Statutory Maternity Pay*. Mutual agreement allows up to 10 Keep In Touch Days without losing SMP. Regardless of length of service all expectant mothers are entitled to Additional Maternity Leave.

*There are certain statutory payment qualifying conditions related to earnings level, length of service, time limits for notification and medical or documentary evidence.
